Message From The Executive Director

Dear Friend,

The time for summer camp will be here before we know it. There is a great need for financial support to the Chapel Rock Campership Fund, so that no child is turned away from attending camp due to a lack of funds. Last Summer over $51,000.00 was awarded to campers in need of support. The ability to provide that amount to our campers is impossible without the kind support from people like you.

Recently the Executive Director of the Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers, Peter Bergstrom, retired after ten years of service. In his letter of retirement Peter writes, ‘I believe the camp experience is more important than ever for children today. Far too many children and teens are disconnected from both nature and caring community. Fewer and fewer are involved with any church, YMCA, Scouts, etc. where they can learn and incorporate positive, Christian values. Episcopal camps are one place where children and young people really learn to love God and one another.’ In Peter’s 10 years with ECCC he was able to visit and consult over 30 different Episcopal camps and conference centers including Chapel Rock.

Whether a camper is here for the first time or the 13th summer straight, they all have an opportunity to have an experience like none before. Chapel Rock’s summer campers have a chance for acceptance, and to become a part of a unique community. They have an opportunity to explore their faith and hopefully even embrace the love of Jesus Christ and their fellow cabin mates. There is no better time than now to be part of helping children have this potentially life changing experience. Every year, when we read camper evaluations, camper after camper says, "That was the best week of my summer!"

The goal of the Chapel Rock Campership Fund is to make sure that no child is turned away because of financial means. Chapel Rock offers an early bird discount for sum- mer camp registrants prior to March 31st. We have also locked in summer camp rates for the third year in a row to help keep costs low. Your gift, of any amount, would be greatly ap- preciated and would help make a transformative difference in the life of a child. Please help us by making a contribution to the Chapel Rock Campership Fund, either by writing a check to your church and noting “Chapel Rock” in the memo line or by donating on our website at www.chapelrock.net/donate.htm.

Blessings and many thanks,

Kelly Wood Executive Director
